A phone number with the area code 485 is invalid. Despite being registered with NANPA, it has not yet been assigned to any geographical area in North America. It is planned to be assigned to a geographical area in the future if needed. General purpose area codes make up the majority of the remaining unassigned area codes in the 200–999 range.
A phone call from area code 485 is a spam call. There is no such phone number as 485-xxx-xxx. If someone calls you and the caller – or a recording – starts asking you to press a button to stop receiving calls, hang up. Scammers frequently employ this technique to spot possible victims.
